The Suspension of Time

Laurent has lived on Ile de Re for nearly 30 years and every day he tells himself how lucky he is - even in the cold of January. He has spent much of that time as an antiques dealer.

Today he devotes himself to his first true passion, painting, abstract painting to be specific. He seeks to express the invisible - what escapes us - the feeling of absence. He paints these with simple shapes, contrasting color and works works with numerous materials.

This autumn he and fellow artist, Muriel Evangelista, will open a new gallery in La Rochelle at 17 rue du Minage. They will continue exhibiting their work through galleries on the island.
